What's in a share?
A Weekly Share includes a variety of freshly harvested produce to be picked up each Wednesday from the end of September through mid-December. Sign-ups are accepted throughout the season and the price will be pro-rated.
We create our farm planting plan based on feedback from our CSA members: each week we aim to harvest a share that includes salad greens, root vegetables, cooking greens, seasonal vegetables, and herbs or a specialty item.

A Weekly Share is designed for a small household. Members can expect to receive 5 varieties of vegetables per week; if you add on a fruit share, there will be one additional fruit item per week (see details below).
What's in a fruit share?
If you add on a fruit share, there will be one additional fruit item per week. We source the fruit share from a handful of orchards and fruit growers in the Hudson Valley.
Fruit availability varies from season to season. In the fall, the share includes many varieties of Apples, Pears, Cider, and more!
A typical share would be 6 apples or a basket of baby pears, a half gallon of cider, etc.
Who grows it?
Vegetable share: We grow the certified organic vegetables right here at Hearty Roots Farm.
Fruit: The fruit, which in the fall is mostly apples and pears, is grown by a few neighboring orchards including Mead Orchard and Montgomery Place Orchard.
Eggs: The eggs are from the hens we raise here at Hearty Roots Farm. They live outdoors on pasture, foraging in the grass, which gives their eggs amazing, nutrient-rich orange yolks.
Share size
The shares at this CSA site are designed for small households, with fewer vegetables (and a lower price) than many CSA shares. If you cook a lot, or have a larger household, we suggest that you reserve two shares.
Logistics
You pick up your share every Wednesday between 5:30pm and 7pm at the Manhattan Valley Townhouses Community Room, near 44 W 105th Street, between Manhattan Ave. and Central Park West.

The share begins on September 11 and goes through December 18th. The share for the second week of October is on Thursday October 10th instead of Wednesday due to Yom Kippur. We take a break for Thanksgiving on November 27th.
