check your order details and pickup schedule
reschedule or skip a week of pickups (see instructions below)

TIP: download the mobile app for push notifications that remind you when your pickup starts!
If you have forgotten your password, you can request it automatically; if you are still having trouble please get in touch with us at csa@heartyroots.com.
We offer seven pickup locations in the Hudson Valley.
When you signed up, you chose your default location and pickup schedule. If you need a reminder, check your email confirmation from when you signed up, or log in to your GrownBy member account to see the details of your order and your pickup schedule. Please do not show up at a different location or on a different day than what's on your schedule, we won't have a share for you! We only harvest exactly what we need to fulfill the shares on each location's sign-in sheet. If you show up on a different day and take a share, someone else won't get their promised items.
If you would like to switch to a different day or location on any given week, you can, as long as you give us advance notice. (See "How do I switch my pickup location for a week?")

Wednesday pickup locations will not hold pickups on July 2nd or August 27th
Thursday pickup locations will not hold pickups on July 3rd or August 28th
Saturday pickup locations will not hold pickups on July 5th or August 30th
For Biweekly Share members: When you signed up for your Biweekly Share, you chose whether to be on the "A Week" or "B Week" schedule. Please note that the alternating pickup schedule shifts around the skipped holiday weeks.
The full season calendar, with A Weeks, B Weeks, and Holiday Weeks specified, is below, also available on our 2025 CSA Schedule page.
Members picking up at the Farm, in Red Hook Village, and at the Maritime Museum in Kingston:
Your pick-ups will be "farm stand style." The produce in your share will be set out in bulk bins, and there will be a list of how much of each item you may take. You will bag up your own share based on that posted list.
Add-on shares will be set out separately.
Please bring your own bags or boxes to carry your share home each week.
A farm crew member will be on site with a sign-in sheet. Please make sure your name is checked off, and please only take the items that are listed next to your name. (Email us at csa@heartyroots.com if you think there's an error.)
Members picking up in Rhinebeck, Kingston at Village Grocery, and Newburgh:
Your shares will be pre-packed into cardboard boxes, ready to take home.
Add-on shares will be set out separately.
A sign-in sheet will be provided (in Rhinebeck, the list will be left for self check-in; in Newburgh and Kingston at Village Grocery, please check in with a staff member to check in). Please make sure your name is checked off, and please only take the items that are listed next to your name. (Email us at csa@heartyroots.com if you think there's an error.)
Woodstock members:
Your shares will be pre-assembled in farm crates. You will need to transfer the contents of your share into your own bags/boxes.
Add-on shares will be set out separately.
Please bring your own bags or boxes to carry your share home each week, do not take the farm crates with you.
A volunteer will usually be on site with a sign-in sheet. If not, the sign-in sheet will be left out for self check-in. Please make sure your name is checked off, and please only take the items that are listed next to your name. (Email us at csa@heartyroots.com if you think there's an error.)
At all locations, you are welcome to send a friend to pick up for you, they can give your name at check-in, no need to notify us in advance. (Though please make sure they know how things work — bringing your own bags, how to check in, whether or not you get add-ons, etc.)
If you want to pick up your share at one of our other locations on any given week, you're welcome to do so as long as you give us advance notice through your GrownBy account. Schedule changes must be made at least 3 days before the earlier of the two pickup dates, so that we can adjust the week's harvest and packing plan (i.e. if you are switching from Wednesday to Saturday pickups, OR if you are switching from Saturday to Wednesday pickups, in either case make the change by Sunday night).
To schedule a week’s pickup for a different location, sign into your GrownBy member account and go to https://grownby.app/orders. You will see a list of all of your upcoming pickup dates. Scroll to the date you would like to change and click on the "Reschedule" button. Select the day/location you want to switch to in the dropdown menu. Please make sure you also reschedule any add-on shares you may have as well as your vegetable share. Click "Save New Pickups" and your share(s) for that week will be delivered to the location you selected.
Rescheduling is only allowed within the same week. You will not be able to switch a pickup to the following or previous week.
You have the option to schedule up to two "vacation weeks" during the season. When you claim a vacation week, your pickup for that week will be cancelled and you will receive a credit in your GrownBy account for the value of your skipped share, which will be automatically applied to your next CSA installment payment or CSA purchase. You can also use your account credit as payment in our Farm Market.
You must process your vacation week claim at least 3 days before your scheduled pickup so that we can adjust the week's harvest plan (i.e. if you pick up Wednesday, make the change by Sunday night).
To claim a vacation week, sign into your GrownBy member account and go to the Orders section at https://grownby.app/orders. You will see a list of all of your upcoming pickup dates. Scroll to the date you would like to put on hold and click on the "Claim Vacation Week" button. If you have any add-on shares, you will need to check the boxes next to each individual item. Click "Confirm Vacation" and your share will be put on hold for that date, and a credit for the value of your share(s) will be added to your account.
(You can also see a how-to video with step-by-step instructions here.)
For members who pick up on the Farm, in Red Hook, in Kingston at the Maritime Museum, or Rhinebeck:
If you miss a pickup and did not schedule a vacation hold for that week, we will hold your share at our Farm Market through the weekend. You can stop by and pick up your share any time during the Market's regular open hours before the end of the day on Monday. Shares that are not claimed by the time the Market closes on Monday will be donated to Long Table Harvest.
Please note that when you pick up your share late, you will be receiving what was picked for your original share. You will not be receiving freshly harvested items, and we will not be offering replacements for items in shares that are picked up late. If you usually pick up your share on a Wednesday, and you won't be picking up your share for a few days, we suggest that you reschedule your share to our Saturday pickup at the farm so that you receive the freshest items possible.
The Farm Market's hours are
Monday–Saturday 10am–6pm
Sundays 10am–4pm
Woodstock, Kingston at Village Grocery, and Newburgh members:
Late pickup is not available for members who pick up at Village Grocery (Kingston), in Woodstock, or in Newburgh, because we do not have someone on the farm staff there at the end of pickup to bring your share back to the farm. Unclaimed shares at these locations will be donated at the end of the regular pickup window. We do not offer refunds or make-up shares for unclaimed shares.
Biweekly members can choose to sign up for either the “A Week” or “B Week” schedule, and your schedule is then set for the season. We cannot accommodate switching back and forth between A and B Week schedules during the season.
The day before each pickup, you will receive an email with a complete list of the items you will find in that week's share, plus news from the farm, recipe ideas, produce storage tips, and info about the produce we grow.
Please open your CSA emails from us! That is where we will communicate any last-minute changes to your pickup due to weather, delivery delays, etc.
If you would like to receive your email updates at more than one email address, or if you are splitting your share with a friend or family member and you both want to get updates, you can add a second email address to your GrownBy member account profile in the "Email 2" field.
Yes, no problem! Either one of you can pick your share on any given week. Just give the name of the primary account holder (usually the person who initially signed up for the share) when you check in.
If you both want to receive our email newsletters (which tell you what will be in your share each week, plus news from the farm, recipe ideas, etc.), you can add a secondary email address to your GrownBy account. Log into the GrownBy account used to purchase your share, go to https://grownby.app/profile, and go to "Personal Information." Add your friend's email address to the "Email 2" field. Both email accounts will be added to our email list.
Yes! All Hearty Roots CSA members are invited to pick in the garden during open hours (Wednesdays between 2pm–7pm or on Saturdays during daylight hours).
Biweekly or Custom Schedule Share members are invited to visit during the weeks that they are scheduled to pick up their share.
You can find all of the details about visiting the garden, including rules and protocols, on our Pick-your-own FAQ page: https://www.heartyroots.com/pick-your-own-garden-faqs
Our vegetables are very fresh when you receive them, but it definitely takes some care on your end to keep them that way once they make it to your kitchen. Taking a few moments to put away vegetables properly can be the difference between a limp head of lettuce and one that is still fresh and crisp a week after pickup.
Leafy greens should be stored in a way that keeps them from wilting, such as in a plastic produce bag, Tupperware container, or the high-humidity produce drawer in the fridge. They should go into the fridge promptly.
Root crops such as beets, carrots, turnips and radishes also need high humidity and cold temperatures to stay crunchy and crisp. Potatoes and sweet potatoes are more forgiving and can be stored in a cool, dark place, not necessarily in the fridge.
Winter squash actually store better at room temperature than anywhere else.
For more information about specific vegetables, these Veggie Info Sheets are an excellent resource. And we include more tips and suggestions in your weekly share list email!
If you paid in full, you can cancel your share at any time with a week's notice. You can choose to have a credit issued for a future CSA or Farm Market purchase; or receive a refund for the value of the shares remaining in the season less processing fees.
If you pay with installments, you can cancel your payment plan at any time. The installment payments already made are non-refundable, and your cancellation will take effect at the beginning of the next month.
To cancel your share, or if you have any questions about this cancellation policy, please email us at csa@heartyroots.com.
