Hudson Valley Thanksgiving Share 2011
Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays on the farm. It provides a chance to relax and enjoy the great bounty of the fall-- butternut squash, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and more. Every season, we plant extra fall crops in hopes of being able to offer an optional Thanksgiving Share to our members. This year, despite the storms, we still have a really nice variety of items to offer, to keep your household eating local for your Thanksgiving feast and beyond.
What's a Thanksgiving Share?
The Thanksgiving Share is a one-time bonus pick-up of fall favorites, good for a Thanksgiving feast, but also good for storing well into the winter.
When & Where do I pick up?
Pick up will be at the Red Hook Winter Market on Saturday, November 19th, from 10am - 2pm. The Red Hook Winter Market will take place at the Elmendorph Inn in Red Hook (near the Stewarts north of the light). There will also be vendors of fruit, meat, baked goods and other items at the market, and the market will continue on several Saturdays per month during the rest of the winter.
If you can't make it to pick up during the specified hours, we cannot hold the share for you. However, you are welcome to send a friend or neighbor to pick up for you, just tell them to check off your name from the list.
How do I sign up and how much does it cost?
You can purchase your Thanksgiving Share directly through the Hearty Roots Farm web site, using a credit card, debit card, or Paypal account. The cost for the vegetable share, which contains more produce than a typical CSA delivery (since it will store so well), is $35. We estimate that if you were to buy the same produce at the farmers' market or grocery store, you would spend at least $45. Quantities are limited, so please sign up soon.
